**NRL 2024: James Fisher-Harris Reveals Reason for Leaving Penrith Panthers and Returning to New Zealand**
Penrith Panthers star James Fisher-Harris has confirmed that he will leave the club at the end of the 2024 NRL season to return to New Zealand, citing family as the driving force behind his decision.
The 28-year-old Kiwi international has been a crucial part of Penrith’s recent dominance, playing a key role in their three consecutive premierships (2021-2023). However, after nearly a decade in Australia, Fisher-Harris has chosen to return home to be closer to his family.
“I’ve loved every moment at Penrith, and this club has given me everything,” Fisher-Harris said in an emotional statement. “But my heart is pulling me back to New Zealand. My family needs me, and at this stage of my life, that comes first.”
The hard-hitting prop is expected to join the New Zealand Warriors from 2025, providing a massive boost to the club as they continue to build a competitive squad under coach Andrew Webster. While the Warriors have yet to confirm the signing, reports suggest that Fisher-Harris will be on a lucrative long-term deal.
Panthers coach Ivan Cleary acknowledged the loss but fully supported his decision. “James has given everything to this club, and while we’re sad to see him go, we respect that family always comes first,” Cleary said.
Fisher-Harris’ departure marks the end of an era for Penrith, who will now have to find a replacement for one of the NRL’s most dominant forwards. As the Panthers aim for a fourth consecutive title in 2024, Fisher-Harris is determined to leave on a high, ensuring his final season in Penrith is a memorable one.
