CONFIRMED 5 MINUTES AGO: NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. is back in the NASCAR Cup and changing things up in 2025…

As of February 26, 2025, there have been recent announcements regarding Dale Earnhardt Jr. returning to racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. In fact, in September 2024, Earnhardt Jr. stated he had no plans to compete in the Xfinity Series for 2025, emphasizing his focus on other ventures within the sport.

While he may not be returning as a driver, Earnhardt Jr. is significantly enhancing his involvement in NASCAR through broadcasting and team ownership. In May 2024, it was officially announced that he would join the broadcast teams of Amazon Prime Video and TNT starting in 2025, contributing as a color commentator. This move aligns with NASCAR’s new media rights agreements, which include streaming select races on Amazon Prime Video and broadcasting others on TNT.

In addition to his broadcasting role, Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports (JRM) made its NASCAR Cup Series debut at the 2025 Daytona 500. The team fielded the No. 40 Chevrolet, driven by reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier and sponsored by Traveller Whiskey, a brand associated with musician Chris Stapleton. This venture marked a significant milestone for JRM, transitioning from its success in the Xfinity Series to competing at the highest level of NASCAR.

Furthermore, Earnhardt Jr. is expanding his media presence through Dirty Mo Media, the content company he founded. For the 2025 season, the popular podcast “Door, Bumper, Clear” (DBC) underwent significant changes. Freddie Kraft continues as the host, joined by new co-hosts Tommy Baldwin, a former NASCAR Cup Series crew chief, and Karsyn Elledge, Earnhardt Jr.’s niece. These changes aim to provide fresh perspectives while maintaining the candid discussions that have made DBC a fan favorite.

In summary, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not returning to the driver’s seat in the NASCAR Cup Series, his influence within the sport continues to grow. Through his expanded roles in broadcasting, team ownership, and media production, Earnhardt Jr. remains a pivotal figure in shaping the future of NASCAR.
