Auburn basketball lands high-profile JUCO commitment following Alabama win…

Following their significant 94-85 victory over No. 2 Alabama on February 16, 2025, the No. 1 Auburn Tigers have bolstered their roster by securing a commitment from junior college standout Addarin Scott. Scott, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, announced his decision to join Auburn on June 9, 2023, choosing the Tigers over offers from South Florida, Lamar, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Alabama State.

During his tenure at Navarro College, Scott showcased impressive skills, averaging 9.3 points per game on 53% shooting, along with 6.8 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game over 31 appearances. His athleticism and defensive prowess are expected to make an immediate impact on Auburn’s frontcourt.

Scott’s commitment came shortly after an official visit to Auburn, where he was impressed by the campus, coaching staff, and team dynamics. Head Coach Bruce Pearl personally extended the scholarship offer, which Scott eagerly accepted, stating, “I couldn’t turn that down.”

In addition to Scott, Auburn has strengthened its lineup with the addition of Chaney Johnson, a 6-foot-7 wing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). Johnson, who committed to the Tigers on April 21, 2023, brings versatility and scoring ability, having averaged 15.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in his final season at UAH.

These strategic acquisitions underscore Auburn’s commitment to enhancing its roster with talented players from diverse backgrounds, positioning the team for continued success in the highly competitive Southeastern Conference.
