The New Orleans Saints are finalizing a deal to appoint Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their new head coach, according to multiple reports. Moore, 36, is expected to assume the role following Super Bowl LIX, where the Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs.

Moore’s coaching career began with the Dallas Cowboys as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator, followed by a stint with the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Eagles. Under his guidance, the Eagles’ offense ranked eighth overall and second in rushing during the 2024 season, largely due to standout performances by running back Saquon Barkley.

The Saints dismissed former head coach Dennis Allen after a disappointing 2-7 start to the 2024 season, ultimately finishing last in the NFC South with a 5-12 record. Moore’s appointment marks a new direction for the franchise as they aim to rebuild and return to playoff contention.

In addition to the coaching change, reports have surfaced that Saints owner Gayle Benson has appointed former quarterback Drew Brees as the team’s new general manager. Brees, who retired after the 2020 season, is expected to bring his extensive football knowledge and leadership to the front office.

Moore faces significant challenges in New Orleans, including navigating a team that is substantially over the salary cap and making critical roster decisions. His success with high-powered offenses and his reputation for innovative play-calling are expected to be valuable assets as he steps into his first head coaching role.

The Saints plan to finalize the deal with Moore after the Super Bowl to comply with NFL regulations. This strategic move aims to avoid any potential rule violations and ensures a smooth transition for Moore into his new role.

As the Saints usher in this new era of leadership, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how Moore and Brees will collaborate to revitalize the franchise and restore its competitive edge in the NFL.
