Webb’s illustrious career included 187 first-grade games with the Brisbane Broncos, North Queensland Cowboys, and Parramatta Eels. He was celebrated for his formidable presence on the field and his significant contributions to the sport.
In August 2023, the rugby league world was deeply saddened by the untimely death of Kyle Turner, a South Sydney Rabbitohs premiership star, who passed away at the age of 31. Turner was an integral part of the Rabbitohs’ 2014 NRL premiership team, ending the club’s 43-year title drought. He was remembered as a “gentle giant with an infectious smile” and a proud Kamilaroi man who made significant contributions both on and off the field.
More recently, in December 2023, the rugby league community was shocked by the tragic passing of Troy Dargan, a 26-year-old Canberra Raiders utility and former South Sydney Rabbitoh. Dargan lost his life in a motorcycle accident while vacationing with his family in the Cook Islands. Authorities indicated that alcohol and speed were contributing factors to the incident. Dargan had recently signed a development deal with the Raiders for the 2024 season and was remembered for his dedication and potential in the sport.
