Tottenham Hotspur has been grappling with significant defensive challenges due to injuries to key center-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. Both players have been sidelined since sustaining injuries during the match against Chelsea in November 2024.

**Cristian Romero** suffered a hamstring strain in the game against Chelsea, leading to his substitution during the match. Subsequent assessments indicated that he would be out of action for approximately four to five weeks. As of late December 2024, reports confirmed that Romero was expected to be sidelined for up to five weeks, placing his anticipated return in early January 2025.

**Micky van de Ven** also sustained a hamstring injury in the same match. Initial evaluations suggested a return in mid-December 2024. However, further updates from manager Ange Postecoglou indicated that van de Ven’s recovery was progressing, with an expected return in early January 2025.

As of January 27, 2025, both players have returned to training and are working towards regaining full match fitness. Their reintegration into the squad is anticipated to bolster Tottenham’s defensive lineup as they navigate the remainder of the season.

The return of Romero and van de Ven is timely, as Tottenham has faced a series of challenging fixtures and aims to improve its standing in the Premier League. Their presence is expected to provide much-needed stability and experience to the team’s defense.
