Brisbane Broncos are pursuing the head coach of the Canterbury Bulldogs for an assistant coaching position. In fact, the Broncos have recently made significant changes to their coaching staff.
In September 2024, Michael Maguire was appointed as the new head coach of the Brisbane Broncos, succeeding Kevin Walters. Maguire, who has a distinguished coaching career, including leading the South Sydney Rabbitohs to a premiership in 2014, signed a three-year contract with the Broncos. ([Brisbane Broncos
To support Maguire, the Broncos have bolstered their coaching team with experienced assistants. Ben Te’o, a former Broncos player and 2014 premiership winner with South Sydney, returned to the club as an assistant coach. Te’o had previously coached the Redcliffe Dolphins to a Grand Final in the Hostplus Cup.
Additionally, Trent Barrett, who has over 300 games as a player and coaching experience with Manly, the Bulldogs, and Parramatta, joined the Broncos as an assistant coach. Barrett expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the team’s success and working with the talented squad.
These strategic appointments reflect the Broncos’ commitment to enhancing their coaching capabilities and building a competitive team for the upcoming season. There is no indication of interest in hiring the Canterbury Bulldogs’ head coach as an assistant coach for the Broncos.
