In a significant move for the Brisbane Broncos, former halfback Ben Hunt has signed a two-year deal to return to the club starting in the 2025 NRL season. Hunt, who previously played for the Broncos from 2009 to 2017, rejoins the team after stints with the St. George Illawarra Dragons.

Hunt’s initial tenure with the Broncos was marked by notable achievements, including leading the team to the 2015 NRL Grand Final. His return is anticipated to bolster the Broncos’ roster with his experience and leadership. At 34, Hunt remains a formidable presence on the field, known for his strategic playmaking abilities and versatility.

The decision to return to Brisbane was influenced by Hunt’s desire to pursue an NRL premiership and his strong personal and professional ties to Queensland. His established real estate portfolio in the region further underscores his commitment to the area.

Broncos’ Chief Executive Dave Donaghy expressed enthusiasm about Hunt’s return, stating that his experience and familiarity with the club’s culture will be invaluable as the team aims to reestablish itself as a dominant force in the NRL.

Hunt’s signing is part of a broader strategy by the Broncos to strengthen their squad. The club has also secured commitments from other key players, including a four-year contract extension for star fullback Reece Walsh, ensuring his stay with the team until the end of the 2029 season.

As the 2025 season approaches, the Broncos are optimistic that these strategic acquisitions will translate into on-field success. Fans eagerly anticipate Hunt’s return, hopeful that his leadership and experience will guide the team to a premiership victory.
