Mike Bobo, the offensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs, has signed a four-year contract extension that will keep him with the program through the 2027 season. This move solidifies his long-term future with the team and underscores the trust that head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia athletic department have in Bobo’s ability to continue developing a high-powered offense.

Bobo, a former Georgia quarterback and longtime assistant coach, returned to the Bulldogs in 2022 after stints as an offensive coordinator at several other major programs, including Colorado State. His return to Georgia was met with excitement, given his deep understanding of the program’s culture and history. Under his guidance, the Bulldogs’ offense has continued to thrive, contributing to the team’s sustained success, which includes back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022.

The decision to extend Bobo’s contract is seen as a reflection of his effectiveness as an offensive coordinator and his ability to adapt and evolve Georgia’s offense in a rapidly changing college football landscape. Despite inheriting a team with a strong defensive identity under Smart, Bobo has managed to build a balanced offensive attack, integrating new elements while maintaining the traditional physicality that has been a hallmark of Georgia football.

Bobo’s offense has been particularly successful in developing young quarterbacks and maximizing the talents of skill position players. Under his watch, Georgia has produced some of the nation’s top running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends, all while maintaining a potent rushing attack that complements a passing game that has become increasingly dynamic. His ability to manage the complexities of both offensive playcalling and game planning has earned him respect among his peers.

This contract extension also secures stability for Georgia’s football program, which has become one of the most dominant teams in college football in recent years. With Bobo’s experience, leadership, and understanding of Georgia’s offensive identity, the Bulldogs are well-positioned to continue competing for championships for years to come.

As the Bulldogs move forward into the 2025 season and beyond, Bobo’s extended tenure provides continuity and a sense of security that will be critical as Georgia seeks to maintain its place at the top of the college football world. The contract extension sends a clear message that Georgia is committed to building on its recent success, and Bobo will play a key role in that effort.
