Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has secured a significant addition to his roster by landing former USC wide receiver Zachariah Branch, one of the top talents in the transfer portal. Branch, a five-star recruit from Las Vegas’s Bishop Gorman High School, was the No. 1 wide receiver and No. 5 overall prospect in the 2023 class.
During his two seasons at USC, Branch showcased his dynamic playmaking abilities. As a true freshman in 2023, he made an immediate impact on special teams, earning the Jet Award as the nation’s top return specialist with 442 kick return yards and a touchdown, along with 332 punt return yards and a touchdown. In 2024, he expanded his role in the offense, recording 47 receptions for 503 yards and a touchdown, bringing his career totals to 78 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns.
Branch’s decision to transfer comes amid USC’s disappointing 7-6 season, which included several close losses. His move to Georgia is expected to bolster the Bulldogs’ receiving corps, especially with the departures of key receivers Dominic Lovett and Arian Smith. Branch’s exceptional speed and versatility are anticipated to enhance Georgia’s offensive dynamics, providing a deep-threat option and contributing significantly to special teams.
In addition to Zachariah, his brother Zion Branch, a former four-star safety, has also committed to Georgia. This addition addresses upcoming gaps in the Bulldogs’ secondary due to the graduation and NFL draft declarations of key defensive backs.
