After selling at the trade deadline, the Detroit Tigers had a scorching second half and eventually secured the final berth in the American League Wild Card round.
Detroit has some work to do this winter after narrowly missing out on their first ALCS berth since 2013. Although their youthful core is robust, it’s time to add to it. In the end, Detroit may have to make some offseason expenditures. They were even mentioned as a top possible destination for outfielder Anthony Santander by Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer.
Despite being a nice surprise this season, Rymer stated, “The Tigers must have one imperative for the offseason: Please, please fix the dang offense.”
In this regard, Santander would be invaluable, and it is virtually unbelievable that he might fit inside Detroit’s financial constraints.”
Despite hitting just.235 in the regular season, Santander’s power more than made up for it. The 30-year-old slugger posted a.506 slugging percentage, a.814 OPS, reached base at a.308 clip, drove in 102 runs, and blasted 44 home runs. The slugger was worth 2.9 wins above replacement and had an OPS+ of 134.
The Tigers should definitely consider signing him if his price falls inside Detroit’s desired range. Santander might be the solution to their offensive problems; they need a big bat.
The Tigers might therefore have an advantage over the Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, and Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central as a result.
