Keenan Isaac, a defensive back from Alabama State and a former Alabama prep standout, was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday to join their practice squad.
On November 12, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived the cornerback, making him available. As an undrafted rookie in 2023, Isaac appeared in two games for the Bucs. This season, he has appeared in five games for Tampa Bay. During the Buccaneers’ regular season, Isaac only ever played on special teams.
Isaac, a standout basketball and football player at Midfield High School, started in the Alabama State secondary as a freshman.
When Tampa Bay trimmed its preseason roster to the regular-season cap on August 27, Isaac was cut for the current campaign. The following day, he was signed as a waiver claim by the Carolina Panthers. However, the cornerback was waived by the Panthers on the eve of their season start, and the Bucs re-signed him to their active roster on September 10. After promoting Isaac to the active roster on October 15 and signing him to the practice squad on September 24, Tampa Bay dismissed him once more last week.
Players on the practice squad perform all of the same tasks as those on the active roster, with the exception of playing games. Nonetheless, two practice-squad players may be promoted to active status for every NFL game by each team.
